I hope this finds you all enjoying the last days of our break- relaxing and resting up! It was a very enjoyable week at the Rosenberg house- catching up with family, friends and housework!
Our classroom is in need of some supplies- if your family would care to donate, it would be appreciated! We could use:
* boxes of tissues (runny nose season is here!)
*black dry erase markers
*community snack item (ex: pretzels)- if your child frequently eats the snack from our classroom instead of bringing their own, please consider contributing.
Before the break we celebrated the culmination of our China unit with a tasting party- great fun had by all! We will continue to study different cultures in Social Studies. This week we will begin to learn about India. Students will be working in small groups, researching 1-2 aspects of India. Their research will be put together into a class power point and shared with the other 3rd grades. Students will be practicing their research skills as well as writing and technology skills.
In math the multiplication practice continues. Please be sure to be practicing multiplication facts at home. It is so important to have those basic facts memorized.
In writing we will be practicing writing a multi-paragraph essay. Students are very good at single paragraph writing so now the expectation is to be able to expand that writing into 3-5 paragraph essay.
In reading we will be on Lesson 9 of the Journeys book, reading a legend. Spelling will be list 11 this week.
Because of the culture study, our science unit will be a short study on healthy eating and the digestive system.
Our last read aloud was the Magic Tree House book called Day of the Dragon King which is set in ancient China- we also read the non-fiction companion book. Next we will be reading The BFG by Roald Dahl. This book will be released as a live-action Steven Spielberg movie this summer.
