Happy Memorial Day to you all! As I enjoy the beautiful weather, I thought I should update the blog. We have many activities planned from now until the end of school. The last day of school for students will be June 24th (full day)- there are no half days for students this year.
Thursday May 28- band concert and art show
Friday May 29- field trip to NY State Museum- all students need a bag lunch and drink
June 1st- NYS 4th grade science written test
June 9th- field trip to Huyck Preserve- students need a bag lunch and to dress for the weather
June 24th- Reading and Writing Celebration brunch 10 AM in our classroom, parents welcome!
We are still working hard in the academic areas. In math we are reviewing the 4th grade year. We will continue to review- especially fractions, decimals and dividing. In science we will spend some time on water ecosystems, water and food cycle. We will also be planting in the Lunch Thyme Garden behind the school. We are not going to have any more spelling this year (hear the children yell hooray!). We will also be reading books from the Journeys kit and book room. For writing, we will be working on paragraph writing on a given topic. We are also in the process of publishing myths. These will be published on Big Universe.com.
As the weather warms up, children are allowed to bring in water bottles (spill proof tops would be appreciated).
Just a reminder that flipflops and fancy sandals are not the best footwear for school- sneakers work the best.
